Full of Peplum

I’m really into Peplum, the the quintessential ladylike shape. Peplum adds  curves to a straight body and or accentuates your already sexy curves. Best of all, you can easily dress this cut up or dress it down. It’s a classic, chic work outfit, even fits well into a red carpet gown or pair it with jeans and some fab pumps. Everyone is loving it, including celebrities…

Pop of PINK!

Finally made that tulle pin which was specially requested by Ashley Sixto. She found this picture somewhere and left it on my desk.

Did I come close? Mine is not nearly as big and still touched my face sometimes. I can’t even imagine wearing one so huge like in the picture. We’re thinking about selling them on my Etsy store and donating a large percent of the proceeds to a charity.

Ikat Obsession….Continued

Juuuust in case you thought my Ikat obsession was worth a mere one post…. I just HAD to go find me something to buy. No really I swear, it was physically impossible to keep working unless I satiated my Ikat shopping desires.

Confession: I got the romper and scarf…sigh.

But if wearing is not eanough (and I understand your struggle) then you can also have it around your home.

We can always rely on West Elm for the coolest home accessories… including cool and modern Ikat throw pillows (swoon)

How about this beautiful pattern for a baby nursery room? I bet this baby would grow up to be sooo cool.

Knowledge:

Ikat is an Indonesian language word which means to tie, bind or wind around and it refers to the ancient way that the fabric was constructed. It is one of the oldest forms of textile decoration.

The defining characteristic of ikat is the dyeing of patterns, by means of bindings, into the threads before cloth construction, the weaving of the fabric, takes place. Herein lies the difference between ikat and tie-dye. In tie-dye the fabric is woven first and the resist bindings are then applied to the fabric which is dyed.

Thank you, Wikipedia!

OK lovies, I hope you learned something today…Ikat is cool.

Colors we love…

Lately I’ve been obsessing with bold bright colors and one of my favorite combinations is red and purple. These colors have been paired up since the beginning of time and for good reason. The colors compliment each other in a way that exalts bold, royal and elegant qualities better appreciated in the pairing of the colors. Throw a little gold in the mix and this just got very chic. Pair red and purple with orange and you’ve got a classic color-blocking favorite combo. You can make this combination playful, elegant and classic. The possibilities are as infinite as your imagination.

Thrift Finds

O.K. ya’ll, this past Saturday I headed on over to Flamingo Plaza, my usual thrift store stop. Here are some of some of the cool stuff I came across…

Shelves full of cool treasures that you can repaint and repurpose. I had a hard time not throwing everything into my basket.

This Christian Dior full length jackt was only $50 and was in amazing condition…but it wasn’t in my budget :/

I love shells (I love anything ocean) and I love shiny metals…so as you can imagine I had a hard time putting this down.

…and this little metal round beauty…I regret not getting it 😦

These cameras were so cool. I almost got one with the idea of spray painting it a bright bold color.

…and speaking of bright bold colors, look at this amazing print! I wish I could put it on the beautiful chairs below.

These were in great condition and there were two. If I had my own home I would’ve bought them and reupholstered them…maybe in chevron print :-/

Now, what I DID get was the following:

I plan to use these cups as vases for my flowers. The blue cups were 6 for $0.97 (weird price) and the two golden ones were originally from Pier 1 (sticker was still on). The cute little puppy I plan to repaint (pictures to come).

I also got a brand new pair of Mango jeans and J.Crew jeans. I scored a really cool red fancy shirt (pictures to come once I figure out how to style it) and this awesome sexy see through skirt (perfect for Miami pool parties)

…and finally this super cute double ring. I was lucky that it fit me since I have a very small ring size.

I can’t wait to post pictures of the puppy before and after.

OK, lovies…talk laters!

xoxo
